Dr Pranawa C Deshmukh is currently Professor at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India. His specialisation is in Atomic and Molecular Physics.

He has done post doctoral research at University of Aarhus, Denmark and University of Notre Dame, USA. He has also been Research Associate and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgia State University, USA. Later he has also been Visiting Scientist to the above Universities as well as to the University of Rome, Italy and International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy.

He has been Principal Investigator for several national and international funded projects. He has published nearly 90 research papers in frontier research areas in leading international journals and in major national and international conferences. He is also Member of Indian Physics Association, Indian Society for Atomic and Molecular Physics, Indian Association of Physics Teachers and American Physical Society.
