Ms
Visa Ravindran is a free lance
writer based in Chennai. A
Masters in English Language and Literature, she is a prolific
writer. She has written extensively on social issues including
women's rights, influence of technology in changing lifestyles/workstyles,
problems of the aged, human rights including concerns of the
elderly.
An
active member of the Joint Action Council for Women (JACW)
she has been involved in awareness raising activities and
women's development for social change. She has given numerous
guest lectures on women's rights and has offered gender sensitisation
courses for professionals on request. She is also the editor
of the JACW's biannual newsletter.
She
participated as a writer in the preparation of a manual on
Human Right Reporting in India, a project sponsored by Thomson
foundation, Cardiff, Wales, the British Council and Press
Institute of India. She has also contributed chapters to manual
on the issues of discrimination against the women and the
disabled.
